Minneriya National Park

Minneriya National Park, situated in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka, is renowned for its large elephant gatherings and diverse wildlife. Spanning approximately 88,900 hectares, the park is centered around the Minneriya Reservoir, which creates a vital water source in the dry season, attracting numerous elephants and other wildlife. Known for the annual “Gathering,” which sees hundreds of elephants congregating around the reservoir, Minneriya offers a spectacular wildlife viewing experience. Besides elephants, the park is home to a variety of animals, including leopards, sloth bears, and a rich array of bird species.
